COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC SAFETY: A good multiple D.S., one page, 4to, Paris, 12th November 1794, in French. The partially printed document bears a large and attractive vignette to the heading of the French Republic & Committee of public safety. Individually signed by several leading members of the committee, comprising Jean Jacques Régis de Cambacéres (1753-1824) 1st Duke of Cambacérès. Lawyer and Statesman. Author of the Napoleonic Code, which still forms the basis of the French civil law; Louis Bernard Guyton de Morveau (1737-1816) Chemist and Politician. He is credited with producing the first systematic method of chemical nomenclature; Charles Cochon de Lapparent (1750-1825) Politician and Minister of Police; Jean Pelet de la Lozere (1759-1842); Antoine François Fourcroy (1755-1809) Chemist, collaborator of Lavoisier; Pierre Louis Prieur de la Marne (1760-1827) and Jean François Delmas (1751-1798). The document authorizes a 15 years old young boy to attend the written tests requested to be admitted at the Public Works central school. Small overall, minor age wear, with upper edge slightly trimmed, otherwise G £150-200
