JOACHIM JOSEPH: (1831-1907) Hungarian Violinist and Composer. A close collaborator of Johannes Brahms. A very good and lengthy A.L.S., `Joseph Joaquim´, three pages, 8vo, n.p., 8th April, n.y., to Mrs. Senior. Joachim states in part `I thank you many many times for your book and kind note. How much should I like to come out to Lavender Hill! But this time even the Sundays are not mine; I have had to look through 36 Symphonies, being an umpire with Macfarren for some price, and next Sunday we meet to decide…´, further saying `I am anxious to get to Meran in Tyrol, where my wife is staying on account of an inveterate severe cold, the weather having been too severe in Berlin´ With remnants of former affixing to the blank fourth page. Small trace of a former staple to the upper left corner, with small stain to this area, otherwise G to VG
George Alexander Macfarren (1813-1887) English Composer and Musicologist.
