De Gaulle states that he and his wife were very touched by Brugere´s New Year greetings, ´Nous vous en remercions et vous adressons a notre tour les souhaits bien sinceres que nous formons pour Madame Brugere et pour vous-meme´ (Translation: ´We would like to thank you for your kind words and send you our very best wishes for Madame Brugere and for yourself´), further adding ´Sachez aussi que j´ai lu avec interet l´article que vous m´avez communique. Quant au reste, je vous en reparlerai au cours de notre prochain entretien´ (Translation: ´I would also like you to know that I read with interest the article you sent me. As for the rest, I will talk to you about it during our next meeting´). Together with Gaston de Bonneval (1911-1998) French Colonel and Resistance fighter who served as aide-de-camp to De Gaulle and was one of his closest confidants. T.L.S., G de Bonneval, one page, 4to, n.p., 31st August 1951, to [Raymond] Brugere, in French. Bonneval states that, contrary to what he had told Brugere that morning, De Gaulle will not be in Paris until 6th September, adding ´Il me demande de vous prier a dejeuner, avec Madame Brugere, pour ce jour a 13h.15 a l´Hotel Laperouse´ (Translation: ´He has asked me to ask you and Madame Brugere to lunch that day at 1.15 p.m. at the Hotel Laperouse´) and further remarking ´Je ne serai pas moi-meme a ce dejeuner et je le regrette bien vivement car je pense prendre quelques jours de repos a ce moment´ (Translation: ´I myself will not be at this luncheon and I regret it very much as I am thinking of taking a few days off at that time´). Also including Jacques Kosciuszko-Morizet (1913-1994) French diplomat who served as Ambassador of France to the United States 1972-77. T.L.S., J Kosciuszko-Morizet, one page, 4to, Paris, 10th May 1948, to [Raymond] Brugere, in French. Kosciuszko-Morizet thanks his correspondent for their letter and article La libre Belgique, which he also mentioned to the President of the Republic [Vincent Auriol], further stating ´Je suis, bien entendu, tout dispose a recevoir M. Jaeger. Qu´il me telephone pour que nous prenions rendez-vous´ (Translation: ´I am, of course, ready to receive Mr Jaeger. He can telephone me to make an appointment´) and asking for his respectful regards to be conveyed to Madame Brugere. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VG, 3
