FREDERICK II: (1712-1786) King of Prussia 1740-86, known as Frederick the Great. L.S., `Fr´, one page, 4to, Postdam, 31st January 1773, to Captain Schaumburg, in German. The King responds to his correspondent´s request and states in part `My dear captain of Schaumburg! With regard to your petition for your release from service received the 23rd of this month, I can't decide right now ´ further saying `Be patient with it until my local arrival, because I will explain myself, as your well affectionate king.´ A bold ink signature with ink spot. The letter has been professionally affixed to a slightly thicker paper. Very small overall minor age wear, otherwise G £200-300
