ALBERT I OF BELGIUM: (1875-1934) King of the Belgians 1909-1934. A.L.S., `Albert de Belgique´, two pages, 8vo, mourning paper, Ostende, 15th August 1906, to a Baron, in French. The letter bears at the heading a Royal embossed monogramme. Albert thanks his correspondent for his letter and states in part `Your kind congratulations on this occasion of the birth of our third child have been received with great pleasure by the Princess and myself..´ Before concluding King Albert sends his regards to Monseigneur the Duke of Alençon. With blank integral leaf. Folded. VG £200-300 Marie José of Belgium (1906-2001) third child of King Albert I and Elisabeth of Bavaria was born the 4th August 1906. She became Queen consort of Italy after her marriage to Umberto II of Italy, but their tenure only last 35 days, and for this reason she was nicknamed ''The May Queen''.
