WOOLF VIRGINIA: (1882-1941) English Novelist. An exceptional A.L.S., `Virginia Woolf´, two pages, 8vo, blue paper, London, n.d., [1919], on her printed stationery, 52 Tavistock Square, to André Maurois. Woolf thanks her correspondent stating `I have been ill, and I should before this have thanked you for the most generous introduction which you have written for the French translation of Mrs Dalloway.´ further saying `..I cannot forget that you have certainly many other things to claim your time, so that your kindness in troubling to write an introduction is all the greater.´ Woolf takes the opportunity to send a lengthy praise of Maurois´work, defining it as `exquisite´ and stating `It fascinated me by its beautiful ease & brilliance..´ And before concluding `..I am encouraged by what you have written so generously and with such fine understanding of my work.´ A letter of very interesting content. VG £2500-3500 Andre Maurois (1885-1967) French Author. Mrs Dalloway (1925) is a novel by Virginia Woolf, one of her best-known works.
