HERSCHEL JOHN: (1792-1871) English Mathematician, Astronomer, Chemist & Inventor. A.L.S., J.F.W.Herschel, three pages, 8vo, Collingwood, Hawkhurst, Kent, 1st August 1841. Herschel states in part `..any parcels..if left at the Royal Society will reach me in safety..´, and further saying `It has not been in my power, I regret to say to attend the meeting of the Institution of Civil Engineers since I had the honor to be placed on its list of Honorary Members..´ Very small overall minor age wear, otherwise VG £200-300
