Churchill´, with two holograph lines, a bold and good signature example, one page, Downing Street, London, 20th August 1952, to General Sir Leslie Hollis, on the Prime Minister printed stationery. Churchill thanks his correspondent for his letter and states in part `..I am indeed interested to know that you are writing your Memoirs, and I am sure they will be a success.. I hope you will excuse and understand me therefore if I tell you that, much as I am complimented by your invitation, I feel I cannot write a Foreword as you suggest. Please forgive me.´ Beneath his signature, Churchill adds a post-scriptum with two holograph lines, stating `Ask me if you are in doubt about any point of personal interest.´ The letter bears the attractive black embossed Prime Minister monogramme.
