Photo Albums – "HaShomer HaTza'ir" in Riga, 1930s
Three photo albums belonging to Nahum Tagar, member of "HaShomer HaTza'ir" movement in Riga, Lithuania, [late 1920s until late 1930s].
The albums contain numerous photographs portraying the activities of "HaShomer HaTza'ir" members in Lithuania in the 1930s. Some are group photographs while others portray the activities of members in "HaShomer HaTza'ir" camps; some of the photographs are annotated; "directors camp, 1930", "labor camp Galil D, 1929", "Trumpeldoria company, battalion D", "'Lamrot HaKol' camp", "'Yetzira' camp", "'Yochanan' company", "Kibbutz 'HaSolel'", "Kibbutz 'Shalshelet'", etc. Many of the photographs in the albums have been given to the album owner as souvenirs, with dedications from members in the movement (written in Hebrew or in Yiddish) as well as family photographs. Total of approximately 460 photographs in various sizes; about a third of the photographs are related to "HaShomer HaTza'ir" activities. Numerous photographs are detached. Worn albums.
