Mike Bongiorno, born Michael Nicholas Salvatore Bongiorno on May 26, 1924 in New York and died on September 8, 2009 in Monte Carlo, was an Italian-American television host, radio host, and journalist. He is considered one of the pioneers of Italian television.

Mike Bongiorno was born in New York to an Italian-American father (originally from Sicily) and a mother from Turin.

During the Second World War, he participated in the Italian Resistance, was taken prisoner and deported to a German concentration camp, from which he survived, not without trauma.

After the war, he began his career in journalism, collaborating with the newspaper "Il Progresso Italo-Americano" in New York. Later, he returned to Italy and became a key figure in Italian television, hosting successful programs such as "La ruota della fortuna", "Rischiatutto", and "Lascia o doppia?".

Bongiorno is known for introducing new television formats to Italy, including the quiz show genre, and for his charismatic hosting style.
