Reynaldo Fonseca, Large Original Oil on Canvas, Signed
This splendid original oil on canvas by Modern Brazilian artist Reynaldo Fonseca appeared on the catalogue cover of the painter's gallery exhibition Cotidiano in 2008. Painted in a Proto-Renaissance style, two nude female figures partially covered with Greco-Roman garbs stand in a shallow space shared with a wide eye cat reminiscent of Goya's ethereal Caprichos dreams and Picasso's solid women of his Classical period. Fonseca's metaphysical composition is enhanced by the warmth of the yellows and browns that he applied with short and energetic brushstrokes. Signature on lower right: Reynaldo 2008. Housed in an elaborate gilded frame. Artwork dimensions: 24"L x 31.75"H. Frame size: 25"L x 39.25"H x 3"W.
Artist: Reynaldo de Aquino Fonseca (Brazilian 1925-2019)
Issued: 2008
Country of Origin: Brazil
Condition: Age related wear.
