Year 2013. Photo, print on alu-dibond. Size 69 X 46 cm.
Fiona made the impressive work `Nele` for Museum Van Loon in Amsterdam in 2013 as part of the exhibition ""Suspended Histories"". In this film, Fiona Tan depicts the life of Cornelia van Rijn, the illegitimate daughter of Rembrandt van Rijn. Because she was his illegitimate daughter, almost nothing is known about her, unlike Titus, Rembrandt's son. After Rembrandt's death, Cornelia left with her husband for what was then Batavia. Here she led an isolated existence. Her children died shortly after birth. She herself also died at the birth of her third child. Fiona Tan's work is exhibited worldwide and sold to major museums and international collectors. Especially for Museum Van Loon, Fiona Tan released a still of the work in a limited edition of 25 copies (full colour pigment ink print on archive paper), which has been sold out for quite some time.
