Orologio rinascimentale con automi dello Zar - Rarissimo orologio da tavolo con automi tardo-rinascimentale, in rame e ottone dorati al mercurio. La cassa poggia su quattro leoni dorati. La struttura a torre, che ospita il movimento, è attorniata da quattro colonne riccamente decorate: il fronte presenta un quadrante argentato in XII in numeri romani con le lancette delle ore e dei minuti. Nella parte opposta, un quadrante argentato di gusto tardorinascimentale, decorato con ghirlande di frutta e motivi vegetali con due quadrantini dorati. Nella parte superiore della struttura si trova il primo gruppo di automi: una rarissima rappresentazione dello Zar di Russia in trono, che sorregge nella mano la Sfera sormontata dalla Croce, il Globus Cruciger, simbolo della dominazione Regale sulla Terra, mentre l’aquila bicipite Paleologa si trova alle sue spalle. A tempo debito, un corteo di nobili coronati passa davanti allo Zar, recando omaggio al sovrano. L’intera struttura è sormontata da un gallo dorato, che ad ogni scoccare dell’ora apre il becco e sbatte le ali. Il movimento ha suoneria delle ore e dei quarti, non è firmato, ha quattro treni con carica a molla su conoide con catena e bariletti, scappamento a verga e pendolo corto. The case is standing on four gilt lions. A turret structure, housing the movement, is flanked by four richly decorated pillars. The front side shows the main silvered dial, with I-XII Roman numerals, while the opposite side houses on a finely decorated silvered plate, showing fruit garlands and vegetal motifs in the best late Renaissance taste and two smaller gilt dials. The upper part of the structure shows the first set of automata: a very rare representation of the sitting Russian Csar, holding the Orb and Cross, the Globus Cruciger, i.e. the sphere surmounted by the cross, symbol of his Royal rule over the Earth, in his hands, having the two-headed Paleologue Russian eagle behind his shoulders. At due time, a cortege of crowned noblemen passes in front of him, paying homage to the sovereign. On top of the whole composition is a nice gilt rooster: when the clock strikes hours, the rooster opens and closes his beak and flaps his wings. The movement strikes hours and quarters, on two separate count wheels; it bears no signature; it has four trains, spring driven with fusee and chain, verge escapement and short penduum.
