L'opera va ricondotta alla complessa esperienza dei fiamminghi operanti a Genova nel corso del XVII secolo, e in particolare all'artista Cornelis de Wael, come dimostra un'opera simile passata in asta presso Christie's a Roma, lotto 286, il 26 maggio 1998.

The artwork is traced back to the complex experience of the Flemish working in Genoa during the 17th century, in particular to the artist Cornelis de Wael, as shown by a similar artwork auctioned at Christie’s in Rome, lot 286, on May 26th, 1998.
