Roman school of the 17th century Arrival of a vessel in port Port with classical architectures A pair of oil on canvas 95 x 132 cm The pair of artworks can be traced back to the roman environment of 17th century painters fascinated by classical architecture and their ruins: Viviano Codazzi, Claude Lorrain and the younger ones Salvator Rosa and Giovanni Ghisolfi. In particular, the canvases find a close and convincing affinity with the production of Alessandro Salucci, an artist of florentine origins active in Rome until the sixth decade of the 17th century. In addition to the usual perspective structure and the chromatic palette, the attribution is confirmed by the characteristic figures, among these, the couple in classical clothes present not only in the two canvases shown here but also in other works by Salucci.
