Il dipinto si connota per le sue peculiarità neo venete in voga a Roma nella seconda metà del Seicento. Tale considerazione conduce verso Pier Francesco Mola a cui s’ispira (si veda San Giovanni Battista predica nel deserto, conservata al Louvre). Tra i suoi allievi citiamo, specificamente in riferimento all’opera in esame, Giovan Battista Pace.

The painting is characterized by its neo-venetian peculiarities in vogue in Rome in the second half of the 17th century. This consideration leads primarily to Pier Francesco Mola who inspired him (you should see St. John the Baptist preaching in the desert, kept in the Louvre). Among his pupils we mention, specifically with reference to the artwork in question, Giovan Battista Pace.
