La coppia di opere va ricondotta all'ambiente romano dei pittori del Seicento affascinati dalle architetture classiche e dalle loro rovine: Viviano Codazzi, Claude Lorrain e i più giovani Salvator Rosa e Giovanni Ghisolfi. In particolare le tele trovano stretta e convincente affinità con la produzione di Alessandro Salucci, artista di origini fiorentine attivo a Roma sino al sesto decennio del Seicento. Oltre al consueto impianto prospettico e alla paletta cromatica, a confermare l'attribuzione sono i personaggi caratteristici, tra questi la coppia in abiti classici presente oltre che nelle due tele qui mostrate anche in altre opere del Salucci.

The pair of artworks can be traced back to the Roman environment of 17th-century painters fascinated by classical architecture and their ruins: Viviano Codazzi, Claude Lorrain, and the younger ones Salvator Rosa and Giovanni Ghisolfi. In particular, the canvases find a close and convincing affinity with the production of Alessandro Salucci, an artist of Florentine origins active in Rome until the sixth decade of the 17th century. In addition to the usual perspective structure and the chromatic palette, the attribution is confirmed by the characteristic figures, among these, the couple in classical clothes is present not only in the two canvases shown here but also in other artworks by Salucci.
