A COLOR-CHANGE SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING
Of openwork design, set to the center with a cushion-cut color-change sapphire weighing 8.88 carats, embellished with the brilliant-cut diamond and pavé-set diamond surround, to the diamond-set bifurcated half-hoop, mounted in 18K white gold and titanium, diamonds weighing approximately 6.90 carats in total, ring size 6¾
Accompanied by a report from the Gemresearch SwissLab, stating that the 8.88 carat natural sapphire shows color-changing in different lights: blue in daylight to purple-pink in incandescent light, originates from Sri Lanka and has enhancement by heat, report no. GRS2018-058681, dated 17th May 2018
This sapphire has the exceptionally rare attribute of changing colors. Color change sapphires will show one color in fluorescent lighting and another color in incandescent lighting. Some color change phenomenon will have only a slight visual change, but a few rare and exceptional color-change sapphires occasionally come in red. They are found almost exclusively in Madagascar and Africa in very small quantities. The rarest of color change sapphires come primarily from Ceylon and Tanzania.
