RARE GREEK ICON SHOWING THE MOTHER OF GOD AND SAINTS - Icon made of heavy wood with an inserted relic (?), donor inscription that can no longer be clearly identified, 1st half of 19th c. 43.5 x 35 cm In the middle the Mother of God with the infant Jesus is depicted. Above left and right the archangels Michael and Gabriel, below St. John the Baptist and St. Stylianos, then St. Nicholas and St. Charalampios. In the bottom row St. George, St. Constantine and Helena, and St. Demetrius. Below the title of the Mother of God, which is referred to as ”Eleusa”, there is a strange place in the shape of a cross. It seems as if a relic was placed here.
