Единственное иллюстрированное многотомное дореволюционное издание романа «Война и Мир» Л.Н. Толстого, с рисунками работы А.П. Апсита. Александр Петрович Апсит (1880-1944) — российский, латвийский художник-график, иллюстратор, один из основоположников традиций советского политического плаката. С 1900 по 1910 году А.П. Апсит состоял в художественном кружке «Среда». В основном Апсит рисовал многочисленные агитационные и рекламные плакаты. Также в начале 20-го века Апсит рисовал иллюстрации для некоторых журналов и книг, издаваемых в то время. С 1939 года Александр Апсит жил и работал в Германии.
