Campaign bed in mahogany from the 19th century. Smooth headboard supported by turned and carved columns, with a canopy structure ending in feet with metal casters. Bed base composed of 10 individual boards, fitting into the side rails and resting on a central support. It bears a metal plate with the mark of the English furniture manufacturer: "Pryer Steains & Mackenzie Manufacturers 30 Bridges Stt Catherine Stt Strand London".
A broken headboard fixing hook, wear, flaws, and defects.

Note: the bed belonged to *João Francisco Allen and was used by him during the Peninsular War.

*João Francisco Allen (1781-1848) was a British-born merchant born in Viana do Castelo. During the French invasions of Portugal, which took place between 1807 and 1814, João Allen decided to stay in Portugal and actively participate in the war. Later, he would be decorated with the Order of the Tower and Sword for the courage shown in the Peninsular War.

*João Francisco Allen (1781-1848) était un marchand d'origine britannique né à Viana do Castelo.
