DALLY, Nicolas (1795-1862) - Usi e costumi sociali, politici e religiosi di tutti i popoli del mondo da documenti autentici e dai viaggi migliori e più recenti. Turin: Stabilimento Fontana, 1844-47. First Italian edition of this work, rightly famous for its illustrative apparatus, depicting habits and customs of all cultures of the world. 4 volumes, 8vo (258 x 175mm). Half-titles, 241 plates (10 more than the 231 called for in the indexes) finely hand coloured at the time, with protective tissue paper (few occasional stains, some tissue papers teared, few plates with pencil marks on recto). Contemporary marbled boards backed in green morocco decorated in gilt (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Associazione Historiae Fides.
