Allegorical engraved vignettes on titles, numerous woodcut diagrams, initials and headpieces, 63 half-page engraved plates and the full page "Orbis terrae compendiosa descriptio" inserted within leaves D1 and D2 as in SBN variant B (some occasional spotting and browning, small repair to top corner of first leaves and to outer margin of final leaves, 2C4-2C5 in second part with small tear to top margin, some other small marginal tears). Late 18th- early 19th-century tree calf, gilt borders and spine, red morocco spine label, marbled endpapers and blue edges (recased, some minor rubbing), preserved within modern marbled paper case.
