FULVIO, Andrea Fulvio (1470-1527) - L'antichità di Roma. Rome: G. Franzini, 1588. First illustrated edition of this work filled with numeours woodcuts illustrating views and monuments of the Italian Capital. The first edition without illustrations was published in 1527 but the present edition is enlarged by Girolamo Ferrucci to include information on the renovations and new buildings constructed during the reign of Pope Sixtus V. 8vo (159 x 109mm). Woodcut device on title, over 90 woodcut illustrations (a few occasional light stains, browning and spotting). Contemporary spine with decorations and label, later speckled boards (some restoration and tiny losses on spine). Some of the final leaves of the index are missbound at the beginning but the volume is complete). Provenance: some early ownership inscriptions on title - Nordkirchen (booklabel).
