UNIQUE! LONG LETTER BY RABBI YISRAEL FRIEDMAN, REBBE OF CHORTKOV, INVITING HIS FOLLOWERS TO THE WEDDING OF HIS DAUGHTER TO RABBI TZVI ARYEH TWERSKY OF ZLATOPOL.

Letter dated 1913 in advance of the wedding of Chava, daughter of the Rebbe of Chortkov to Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh Twersky of Zlatopol. The wedding, which was attended by the Rebbes of the Ruzhin and Chernobil dynasties, was the last of its kind to take place before WWI, when these great chassidic courts were still in existence and the Ruzhin dynasties in Galicia were flourishing.

Rabbi Yisrael Friedman (1854-1933), son of Rabbi David Moshe of Chortkov, grandson of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin and of Rabbi Ahron of Chernobil, and son-in-law of his uncle Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadagur. Successor to his father and leader of thousands of Chotkover Chassidim, including many famous rabbinical figures. The Rebbe of Chortkov was active in public affairs and was one of the founders of Agudas Yisrael. He settled in Vienna during WWI. Author of Ginzei Yisrael.

Rabbi Tzvi Aryeh Twersky (1890-1968), son of Rabbi Mordechai Yosef of Zlatopol and grandson of Rabbi Yochanan of Rachmestrivka. Son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Chortkov and successor to his father as Rebbe of Zlatopol (from 1929) in Vienna and Tel aviv. Author of Hatov Vehatachlis.

1 side. 21.5 x 28 cm. Very good condition.
