There is a handwritten dedication by the President of Chile himself, written in the year of publication, just one year before the coup d’etat which led to his overthrowal: “Saludos con cordial afecto a todos. Salvador Allende. Sep. 12 de Agosto 72”. Pablo Neruda also wrote a dedication: “Para todos los chilenos. Pablo Neruda, Paris”. The prologue is entitled “Los versos del poeta en el corazón de Chile” (The verses of the poet in the heart of Chile), by Salvador Allende (5 pages). Manuel Arce made the selection and the work was shared between the writer and the poet in his house “La Manquel”, in the village of Condé-Sur-Iton, in Normandy, France, in the month of September, 1972. It was printed in the Talleres Gráficos García workshop and in the colophon the date given is 20th November 1972. One hundred and fifty thousand copies were printed. Kept in its leather box with the title of the book specified on the spine: “Antología popular. 1972”.
