A female beauty in an autumn night
Vertical hanging scroll painted in ink and colours on paper, 90 x 27 cm
Signed in the upper right corner with seal; silk frame.
Provenance: Italian private collection.
Born and raised in Kyoto, Mitsuzane was a prominent member of the glorious Tosa School, whose origins can be traced back to the 15th century. He was appointed head of the shōgun's official atelier, painting in a style in which color is often of equal importance to ink.
