THE SPLIT IN KOLLEL VOHLIN! LETTER BY RABBI NISSAN BAK TO SIR MOSES MONTEFIORE DESCRIBING THE SPLIT IN KOLLEL VOHLIN WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF KOLLEL PERUSHIM AND KOLLEL VOHLIN – YERUSHLAYIM. 1851. HANDWRITTEN SIGNED LETTER.
Interesting letter shedding light on the early period of the split in the Vohlin Kollel, originally founded by the leading chassidc Rebbes of Lublin, Neshchiz, Kozienitz and Apt. The Kollel eventually split into a number of groups, as described in this letter dated 1851. R. Nissan Bak asks Montefiore to send his donations to the Kollel Perushim separate from those to the Kollel Chassidim, to avoid dispute.
R. Nissan Bak, son of the famous printer R. Yisrael Bak. Representative of the Rebbes of Ruzhin and Sadagura in Eretz Yisrael, heading the construction of the Tiferes Yisrael Shul in Yerushalayim on their behalf. Leading Yerushalayim communal activist.
