THE FIRST PRINTED EDITION OF THE FAMOUS PRAYER FOR MOTZEI SHABBOS BY RABBI LEVY YITZCHAK OF BERDITCHEV – ‘G-TT FUN AVROHOM’.
Shenei Hame’oros; Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh – a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov, published by his grandson Rabbi Shmuel Kaminker.
At the end of the book appears the first printed text of the famous Yiddish prayer for Motzei Shabbos, beginning with the words ‘G-tt fun Avrohom’.
It has the following introduction:
Something new, not published as yet ... I found in the possession of a trusted person, a copy of the holy manuscript of the great and famous luminary, the true gaon, ... the holy flame, man of G-d ... Rabbi Levy Yitzchak, Av Beth Din of Berditchev ... and this is what it states: it is a great segulah for men, women and children to recite this prayer three times every Motzei Shabbos Kodesh before Havdalah, and I am certain that they shall definitely be successful... [these are] the words of the publisher Yehoshua son of R. Yosef Pikman.
