Oil painting on canvas depicting the battle, Allegedly by Pieter van Bloemen. 85x120 cm. In frame 110x143 cm. Pieter van Bloemen, called the Banner, (Antwerp, January 17, 1657 - Antwerp, 1720), battle scene, cm. 84x119

Pieter van Bloemen belongs to a family of Flemish painters and designers, active between Italy and France.
In 1673 he became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp and ten years later in Lyon in the company of Dutch artist Adriaen van der Cabel and Gillis Weenix.
Since 1686 lives in Rome, where he joined the "Schildersbent", an association of painters, mainly Dutch and Flemish, where Pieter acquired the nickname Standaart or Banner, probably as a result of the implementation of standards, which usually depict scenes battle. This period is full of success and influence his work until the end.
In 1694 returns to Antwerp and, in 1699, became dean of the Guild of Saint Luke.

The painting is considered a battle scene. The assignment could be confirmed by comparing it with the paintings of the same subject and certain attribution to the author himself. In particular, we can refer to the canvas with a battle scene, lot 176 rod 343 of the House Foreign Exchange, on which we find the same attention to atmospheric rendering, such as bulging eyes of the characters, the realization of trees and branches, the bright colors of ' clothing of the figures in contrast with gray and dark brown of the funds, or the white horse, which plays a primary role in the composition.
