1886 Eritrea - Massawa - Emergency postage with postage from Italy from c. 2, 10 copies, of which 1 block of 8 and 1 pair (defective), on a letter from Massawa to Palermo, on the reverse, departure stamps, transit in Naples and arrival in Palermo. On the left front manuscript 'Franca - postage applied as a postage stamp in the absence of stamps'. All 10 values were surrounded by the postal officer with a blue pencil and regularly canceled with the Massawa bar numeral, as well as writing 'Franca' on the front. Very rare use, as rare is the block of 8 on the envelope.
