Mirella Freni, Mirella Fregni (Modena 1935 - ivi 2020)

It was a "child prodigy", having performed in public at the age of ten years in a singing competition EIAR One fine day from Madama Butterfly. He began to love music in the family and singing as a white voice of popular opera arias, while a maternal uncle had taught her to read the first few notes. Beniamino Gigli, after hearing it in a private audition in Rome, advised her to engage in a systematic way to study singing. As a teacher he baritone, known in the early twentieth century, Gigi Bertazzoni, accompanied on the piano by Maestro Leone Magiera, who became the musical coach for the first twenty-five year career. After a few years of study, he debuted with great success on February 3, 1955 at the Teatro Comunale in Modena as Micaela in Carmen. Immediately after the brilliant debut, the brakes stopped his career after her marriage with Magiera teacher and the birth of daughter Micaela, taking only three years later, when, after the statement at the "International Competition Giovanni Battista Viotti" in Vercelli, sang in Mimì at the Teatro Regio in Turin. They followed debuts at Glyndebourne in Mozart roles of Susanna and Zerlina and at Covent Garden in Nannetta in 1961. In 1962, again with Falstaff, made his debut at La Scala in Milan. The first major success was in 1963 Scala starring in the famous edition of La bohème directed by Herbert von Karajan, which soon became one of the favorite singers ever. In the same year he made his debut, again as Mimi, the Vienna State Opera, where he played his favorite character in thirty-three performances, until 1992. Another important debut was at the Met in 1965, still in Bohème, next to the well debutant Gianni Raimondi. There followed appearances in other major US theaters and then in all the major theaters of the world, mostly in roles exquisitely lyrical or lyrical-light. Photographic portrait in the guise of Adriana Lecouvreur, autographed, dated 1993.Excellent condition
