His repertories were especially Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini and Giuseppe Verdi: classics. With the works of these authors, the tenor of Pavia had managed to reach higher levels of opera. At the height of his career, he had arrived to replace several times even Luciano Pavarotti at La Scala.
