Pair of D. José skirt candlesticks in Portuguese silver, from the 18th century. XVIII. Spiral body with a scalloped edge base, spun and chiseled decoration with reserves with finned frames, flowers and shell motifs. Removable sconces. With Lisbon contrast mark (L-29.0), in use from c.1750 to c.1770, and JN/C goldsmith's mark. (L-436.0), attributable to Joaquim Nunes Colares, datable from 1764 to 1807, remarked with two old man's heads. Sconces without contrast, marked with an old man's head. Signs of use, scratches and dents. (2) Approx. weight: 890 g.; Approx. height: 24 cm.
