Gustav Gurschner was an Austrian sculptor active in the decorative arts. Born in 1873 in Muldorf, Germany, he was a student of August Kühne and Otto König at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna. He participated in the inaugural exhibition of the Vienna Secession in 1898. His style was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement in Austria, which he himself influenced through his work, especially with wooden and bronze objects. His works were imported by New York gallery owners
in the early 20th century. He was then considered an important Viennese artist.
His works are exhibited in many museums around the world. He died in Vienna in 1970
