Genealogia da Família Costa Araújo, 1850
MANUSCRITO GENEALÓGICO.- Archivo Historico-Genealogico dos Ascendentes Paternos e Maternos de João Marcellino da Costa Araujo e Souza Sá Brandão Freire.- Século XIX (1850).- ± 400 f.; 30 cm.- E.
Volume consisting of a set of documents belonging to the family of João Marcellino da Costa Araujo e Souza Sá Brandão Freire (* 1784), cavalry colonel, governor of the Esposende Fort, born in Guimarães, parish of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, son of Luís António da Costa Araújo (born in Ponte da Barca) and D. Isabel Teixeira Coelho de Melo (born in Mesão Frio). Work of a genealogical nature, organized in four parts, namely: 1ª Costados e parallelos dos Costas Araujos de Villa da Barca — Provincia do Minho. The text itself is complemented by 44 watercoloured family trees, some quite large, sometimes with heraldic representations. Among the most significant illustrations stand a grisaille watercoloured drawing of Count D. Henrique, a coat of arms of Luiz António da Costa Ar[aúj]o Souza, combined with the surnames of his wife and a watercoloured engraving with the representation of the coat of arms used by João Pinto de Paçô. In the end, more than six dozen documents were added, including original letters, applications and notary’s certificates. Volume loose in binding due to its weight and the fact that numerous documents have been added. Fully sheepskin contemporary binding, a little worn, showing on the spine the following initials: P.J.M.C.A.
