Annotated translation of medicinal matter of the Greek Dioscórides (19th century). I), the main pharmacological text used in Europe for more than sixteen centuries. Profusely illustrated edition with about 640 xylographies representing mainly medicinal plants, but also animals and a portrait of the translator and annotator Andres Laguna (1499-1559), famous physician and botanical, born in Guadalajara. The specimen, slightly cropped, with slight moisture stains, some browning and signs of handling, has numerous lines scratched by censorship and some underscores, whose ink caused some local browning. It is however complete and solid. Entire sheepskin contemporary binding or slightly later, with worn spine and crumpled corners. Palau 74023.
