A WOOD WITH TRACES OF GILDING SEATED BUDDHA
Burma, 19th century
Sitting on a pedestal in the shape of a double lotus flower, the deity with crossed legs in dyanasana, the left hand resting on the feet, the right hand touching the base in the bhumisparsamudra, with which the Buddha calls to bear witness to the land of his Enlightment, the robe leaving uncovered the right shoulder, decorated in relief on the front with a stylization, the face with a meditative expression, narrowed eyes, the closed lips in an enigmatic smile.
