The Madonna is depicted in the act of prayer. The twelve stars around his head symbolize the passage from the Apocalypse of St. John: "A great sign then appeared in the sky: a woman dressed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head". The elegance of the forms, the sweetness of the expression and the ideal beauty of the Madonna are the result of a follower of the school of a great master of the seventeenth century Roman, Giovanni Battista Salvi, called Sassoferrato.
State of conservation : excellent, retooled, the ultraviolet observation reveals color retouches distributed almost everywhere, in a frame
