"Our Lady of the Milk". Carved, polychromed and gilded wooden sculpture. Colonial. Possibly Guatemala. 17th - 18th century.
43,5 x 24 x 16,5 cm. Height with plinth: 46 cm.
In our opinion, this sculpture is very similar to the Our Lady of the Rosary which can be found in the Museo Amparo in Puebla, Mexico.
It is the same structure, being one single piece in which only the Christ Child and the hands of the Madonna stick out from the main piece. The polychroming of the cloak done in brush on gold is also very similar to the sculpture in the Museo Amparo.
