Jacques Callot (Nancy 1592 - 1635), 'Les Misères et Malheurs de la Guerre', France 1633 - Series of seven engravings from the 'Grandes Misères' series, depicting 'The Enlistment of the Troops (The Encampment)', 'The Battle', 'The Devastation of a Monastery', 'The Hunt for Evildoers', 'The Hospital', 'The Beggars and the Agonised' and 'The Distribution of the Rewards'. Respectively, tables number 2 - 3 - 6 - 9 - 15 - 16 - 18. At the bottom of sheet 18 is the inscription 'Callot Israel excudit', on the others 'Israel ex. cum Privilegio Regio'.
