Oil on canvas, framed measurements: 125 x 108 cm, canvas measurements: 114 x 99 cm. José María Murillo y Bracho (Seville, 1827 - Málaga, 1882) was a Sevillian painter who was a disciple of Antonio María Esquivel. He is also known as José María Bracho y Murillo due to his habit of signing his works by reversing the order of their surnames. He having participated on several occasions in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (Spain) between 1858 and 1878, presenting canvases of still lifes, floral ensembles and fruit bowls. In the exhibition held in Jerez de la Frontera in 1856 he participated with two canvases on costumbrista themes entitled: Preparations for a great meal and Table revolt. His works can be seen at the Malaga Museum, a city with which he was closely linked, and in private collections such as the Bellver Collection in Seville.
