Mevakshei Hashem which are three nice sermons on each and every parasha, by the sage Shmuel hagiz. Zuan Degara Press, Venice, [1596]. With handwritten glosses. First edition. rare. 


258, [8] leaves. Dozens of glosses on the margins of the first leaves. 


Rabbi Shmuel Hagiz (passed away in 1633), the son of Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Shmuel Hagiz one of the renowned sages of Fes, Morocco and one of the leaders of the synagogue and Beis Midrash of the town. Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi Yaakov traveled to varied countries including Lybia and Italy, where he delivered sermons. He published in Venice his book Devar Shmuel om Midrash Rabba and his book of sermons Mevakshei Hashem. His only son, Rabbi Yaakov Hagiz, was one of the greatest sages of Jerusalem and the Rosh Yeshiva of Beis Yaakov.
