Austrian landscape and architecture painter of the 20th century. Representative of exile art. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Rudolf Bacher. Study trips to Italy, Yugoslavia, Russia, Switzerland, France and Portugal. Acquaintance with Romain Rolland. Fondness for the poet Walt Whitman and the novelist Otto Flake. Exhibited regularly in the Hagenbund. In 1938 he emigrated to Grenoble in France, and in Paris in 1939 he met Willy Eisenschitz and Georg Merkel. 1941 emigration to the USA, 1947 return to Vienna. 1984 exhibition in the Austrian Gallery Belvedere, 1988 exhibition in the Vienna Museum. Mainly created landscapes, including pastels with impressive mountain scenes and mountain landscapes from the Valais Alps.St. Rupert’s Church on Ruprechtsplatz is the oldest church in Vienna. It contains the oldest glass windows in Vienna, from the 13th century and, since 1993, 22 modern stained glass windows by Lydia Ropolt. In the apse, there are windows by Heinrich Taheld (1949). The cast bronze tabernacle with barrel staves was created in 1998 by Ignaz Kienast. St. Stephen's Cathedral can be seen in the background.
