Sefat Emet al HaSha"s. First Edition. Complete Set.
Sefat Emet al Masechtot HaSha"s by the Admo"r Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh Alter of Gur, who is known by the name of the book before us, as "Ba'al HaSefat Emet." First edition. Complete set [3 volumes + an additional volume].
At the beginning of each volume, there is a short foreword by 'my son and my son-in-law the author, ztz"l' and by Rabbi Ya'akov Meir Biderman, the author's son-in-law, who added "an elucidation and a commentary, as well as an aid and a mirror."
The Admo"r Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh Leib Alter of Gur [1847-1905] was the second Admo"r in the Gur dynasty, and one of the most prominent leaders of Polish Jewry towards the end of the 19th century. Under his leadership, Gur Chassidism became the central Chassidic sect in Poland. This book, by which he is known as the "Ba'al HaSefat Emet," was greatly admired for its depth and genius. It became known for its great influence, even beyond Chassidic courts, extending into Mitnaged circles.
