A LARGE OTTOMAN VELVET AND METALLIC THREAD EMBROIDERED CUSHION COVER
Ottoman, Turkey, Ca. 19th century AD . A rectangular panel of deep indigo velvet, sumptuously embroidered with metallic thread in a floral motif. The central design features an elaborate bouquet of blooming flowers and curling foliage, tied at the base with a stylised ribbon. The upper and lower edges are bordered by a scrolling vine with delicate blossoms, executed in shimmering gold thread that contrasts against the dark velvet ground. This textile likely served as a decorative wall hanging, altar frontal, or furniture covering, reflecting the luxurious craftsmanship of the Ottoman court.
