Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent, known simply as Yves Saint Laurent (Oran, 1 August 1936 – Paris, 1 June 2008) was a French fashion designer, one of the most famous and well-known fashion designers of the 20th century; in 1980 he was the first living fashion designer to enjoy a major retrospective of his work at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
