Title: Cavalier sur Son Cheval Rouge. From the eight piece suite Carnaval de St. Petersburg. Vibrant surrealist print on wove paper depicting a man in a tricorn hat on horseback. He is pursued by two men who appear to be smelling his pipe with their absurdly long noses. Signed by artist in pencil in lower right corner with xxvi/L written in lower left corner. Black matte border with black mount backing; textured gold finished frame. Mihail Chemiakin was born in Moscow in 1943 and was later exiled from Soviet Russia in 1971. Upon his return to post-Soviet Russia, he was commissioned by government officials to create monuments dedicated to Peter the Great, the Victims of Political Repressions, and the Architects and Builders of St. Petersburg. He also has monuments erected in France. Sight size: 14.5"W x 14.75"H; frame: 18.5"W x 19"H x 0.75"D. Certificate of Authenticity included.
